SleepTest
A Sleep Test is a medical evaluation used to assess how your body functions during sleep. It measures breathing patterns, oxygen levels, heart activity, brain waves, and body movements to help diagnose sleep disorders such as sleep apnea and other conditions that affect sleep quality and overall health.
Sleep Test – PSG
(In-Lab Sleep Study)
Polysomnography (PSG) is a comprehensive sleep study performed overnight in a certified sleep laboratory under the supervision of trained sleep technologists.
During the test, multiple body functions are monitored, including:
- Brain waves (EEG)
- Heart rate and rhythm (ECG)
- Breathing patterns and oxygen levels
- Eye and muscle movements
- Leg movements and snoring
This test is considered the gold standard for diagnosing sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea, central sleep apnea, insomnia, narcolepsy, and other complex sleep conditions.
Best for:
Patients with complex symptoms, other medical conditions, or when a highly detailed sleep analysis is required.
Home Sleep Test (HST)
A Home Sleep Test (HST) is a simplified sleep study that allows you to be tested in the comfort of your own home using a portable monitoring device.
The device typically records:
- Breathing patterns
- Oxygen saturation
- Heart rate
- Body position and snoring
HST is designed primarily to diagnose moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea and is easy to use, comfortable, and cost-effective.
Best for:
Patients with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea who prefer a convenient, at-home testing option.
